•1983 - Ben Kjar was born on May 24, with a rare craniofacial anomaly called Crouzon Syndrome. Doctors told Ben at a young age that wrestling and other contact sports wouldn't be an option due to stress on the skull.

•Ben decided that he was going to write his own story and defy the odds of what was medically expected.

•1988 - At age 5, Ben underwent his second full reconstructive facial surgery and started to show signs of athletic ability.

•1994 - Ben begged his parents for the opportunity to wrestle and play football. After much debate on if it would be the best thing for his health, his parents decided to allow him to live without limits and support him in his desires.

•1998 - After years of living without limits, setting new standards, and defying the odds, Ben Kjar entered Centerville Jr. High and was the very first wrestler to never lose a match in Jr. High, 7-9th grade.

•1999 - Ben's youth doctor told him that it was time for another surgery, and if he were to undergo the surgery he would risk the chance of never being able to wrestle again. Ben had goals to accomplish and chose to postpone his surgery until after his High School career.

•2002 - After setting records at Jr. High, Ben took his limitless attitude to the next level where he was the first 3X State Champion, and ledViewmont to its first-ever State Championship.

•Ben's senior year in High School proved to be successful as he garnered many national awards, including 3 National Titles and 2 World Trials Championships.

•Upon graduating High School, Ben made his decision to wrestle at Oklahoma University.

•2003 - In Oklahoma, Ben "coincidentally" met Kevin Smith, a national renowned Craniofacial Surgeon. Kevin assured him that he could live all of his dreams without limits.

•Ben had a successful year at OU placing 3rd in Freestyle and Greco-Roman at University Nationals then went on to undergo his final major facial reconstructive surgery of his life.

•2004 - After a year of healing from the surgery, Ben served an LDS religious mission for two years in the Tucson, AZ Mission speaking Spanish.

•2006 - Upon returning from his mission, having received many scholarships from different nationally ranked schools, Ben accepted the challenge to Pioneer the Utah Valley University program with his long-time wrestling club coach, Greg Williams.

•2008 - Ben met LaCol Grant, a track athlete at UVU, and fell in love. LaCol and Ben started their lives together January 3, 2009.

•2011 - Ben Kjar became Utah Valley's winningest Wrestler, and First-Ever All-American while being a 2X Academic All-American.
